Pelargonic acid, C9H18O2
Pelargonic acid is a saturated fatty acid with a nine-carbon chain. It is a colorless oily liquid with an unpleasant odor. Naturally occurring in some plants and essential oils, pelargonic acid is used as a contact herbicide for weed control. Additionally, it is employed in the production of lubricants, plasticizers, and as an intermediate in organic synthesis.
